Pollution

Have you ever wondered about all of the pollution and harm that is put into the earth when we do not recycle? In two recent articles “Art for Ocean Animals” by Elise Jonas-Delson and “Drinking Water: Bottled or from the Tap?” by Catherine Clarke Fox they talk about some of the effects of what not recycling are and how pollution is getting worse and worse everyday. In the next few paragraphs I am going to tell you about the differences and the similarities of what these two passages think about pollution and its effects on our environment.
In the two articles “Drinking Water: Bottled or from the Tap?” by Catherine Clarke Fox and “Art for Ocean Animals” by Elise Jonas-Delson have very different views on what to do about pollution.First, in “Art for Ocean Animals” by Elise Jonas-Delson the passage states,”She uses the trash to create giant sculptures of marine animals. The project is called Washed Ashore and its goal is to raise awareness about the effects of littering on ocean animals.”Next, in “Drinking Water: Bottled or from the Tap?” by Catherine Clarke Fox the article states,”So why don’t more people drink water straight from the kitchen faucet? Some people drink bottled water because they think it is better for them than water out of the tap, but that’s not true.” So in both passages they are for getting rid of pollution but, they have different ways of getting that extraordinary job done, in “Drinking Water: Bottled or from the Tap?” by Catherine Clarke Fox the author thinks that one way we can stop of prevent a lot of pollution is if you drink tap water instead of drinking bottles of water and throwing the plastic water bottles can make things worse and worse and so just by drinking water from the tap you can prevent a lot of pollution. On the other hand, in “Art for Ocean Animals” by Elise Jonas-Delson the author wants to raise awareness about all the pollution people are creating by making art out of all of the trash that pollutes the ocean and displays it so she can raise awareness. Lastly, in “Drinking Water: Bottled or from the Tap?” the passage states,”Plastic bottle recycling can help—instead of going out with the trash, plastic bottles can be turned into items like carpeting or cozy fleece clothing.” and in “Art for Ocean Animals”by Elise Jonas-Delson by Catherine Clarke Fox the passage states,”Pozzi started Washed Ashore when she noticed plastics on the beaches in Oregon, where she lives.” so in “Art for Ocean Animals” by Elise Jonas-Delson the author knows a business and in “Drinking Water: Bottled or from the Tap?” by Catherine Clarke Fox the author just wants to raise awareness but dose not have a business like in the other text. Just because these articles have their differences does not mean that they do not have anything alike.
In this paragraph I am going to tell you about the similarities in the two passages “Art for Ocean Animals” by Elise Jonas-Delson and “Drinking Water: Bottled or from the Tap?” by Catherine Clarke Fox. For example,in both of the articles the authors both want to prevent or even maybe stop pollution it talks about this in “Drinking Water: Bottled or from the Tap?” by Catherine Clarke Fox,”People love the convenience of bottled water. But maybe if they realized the problems it causes, they would try drinking from a glass at home or carrying water in a refillable steel container instead of plastic.” it is also in “Art for Ocean Animals” by Elise Jonas-Delson the article states,”The project is called Washed Ashore and its goal is to raise awareness about the effects of littering on ocean animals.” so as you can tell from both passages both of the authors want to prevent pollution in their own special way and they both believe that they can work and stop pollution. Also, in the passage “Art for Ocean Animals” by Elise Jonas-Delson the passage states,”Plastic doesn’t break down and become absorbed by the environment. Instead, sunlight breaks it down into pieces about the size of plankton, which are tiny organisms that float in the sea. These tiny pieces of plastic enter the food chain. Sea animals eat them and end up dying.” and in “Drinking Water: Bottled or from the Tap?” by Catherine Clarke Fox the text states,”But all those plastic bottles use a lot of fossil fuels and pollute the environment. In fact, Americans buy more bottled water than any other nation in the world, adding 29 billion water bottles a year to the problem.” so as you can tell both author try to persuade their reader by telling them all of the problems that the pollution can cause so that the reader will become interested and want to continue reading or maybe even want to help out with the authors cause.
I hope that you now know people are out in the world doing what they can to stop all kinds of pollution. I also, hope that after you have read this you can make a difference just like I am going to try and make a difference in my city and I hope that the World can band together band together and help stop the fight against pollution and be just as strong and helpful as the authors in “Drinking Water: Bottled or from the Tap?” by Catherine Clarke Fox and “Art for Ocean Animals”by Elise Jonas-Delson are today.
